Has God been at work throughout human history?

Does God Work through the lives of man?

Isaiah 14:24

The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand

Roman Roads

The excellence and extent of the roads of the Roman Empire was legendary. The Roman Empire spent tens of thousands of man hours in an unprecedented endeavor of construction to enable better transportation. Ultimately, thousands of miles of roads connected major cities as well as outlying areas of the Roman Empire allowing travel throughout the Mediterranean world and beyond. This literally paved the way for the New Testament journeys of great distances, such as the Apostle Paul’s 2nd missionary journey. Such voyages may have been impossible without these extremely high quality thoroughfares.

Pax romanaReleases 040

The rule of Caesar Augustus inaugurated what is known as the pax romana meaning ‘Roman peace.’ This brought two centuries of economic growth and stability and the near absence of military conflict within the empire. This somewhat peaceful era allowed for freedom of movement and relative safety throughout the Roman world. It is no doubt that God orchestrated the conditions such as they were in the pax romana in order to facilitate the spread of the news of Christ’s sacrificial death and atonement for sin throughout the Roman Empire and beyond. Did God use the life of Caesar Augustus?

Roman Empire and Christianity

After the death and resurrection of Christ, the news of the Savior spread like wildfire. This initial explosion of Christianity took place within the political and cultural framework of the Roman Empire. Although pagan Rome persecuted the Christians for three centuries, it would be wrong to see the empire merely as a hindrance in the spread of Christianity. Releases 035

To begin with, the maltreatment actually resulted in the dispersion of the persecuted Christians, with them went the gospel. Secondly, the fact that Rome forced unity on the Greco-Latin world meant that over a huge area, under a single authority, order reigned. These conditions lasted well into the third century and sound communications throughout the empire made it easy for the gospel of Jesus Christ to circulate. It was these Roman roads and the sea-routes of the Mediterranean that provided perfect channels for the good news of Christianity to spread over the whole Mediterranean area. Many of these roads are still in existence today, over 2,000 years later! And the same precious message of eternal salvation through Christ alone that travelled along those roads is being brought to you today.

So did God arrange the events in ancient Rome or did He simply use the actions of mankind to do His purpose?

Acts 17:24 -27

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us

The Romans Road to Salvation

The Romans Road is a path to Jesus Christ.

It is fitting that a group of Bible verses from the book of Romans in the New Testament is known as Roman’s Road.  If you walk down this road you will come to the understanding of how to be saved.

Please contemplate the meaning of each of the following Bible verses and consider the applications to your own life.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

We all have sin in our hearts, we all have sin in our lives. We were all born with sin.

We were born under the power of sin’s control.

We have all broken God’s commandments.

~ Admit that you are a sinner ~

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sin has consequences.  It results in death.  We all face physical death, a result of sin, but a far worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain.

~ Understand that you deserve death for your sin ~

“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Salvation is a free gift from God to you!

You can’t earn this gift, but you must accept and receive it.

~ Ask God to forgive you and save you ~

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sins. He paid the price for all sin, and took the sins of the world on Himself. He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we turn away from our trust and belief in ourselves and in the world and believe in Him and what He has done for us. He did all this because He loved us and willingly gave Himself for us! God’s love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. His love and grace bought you out of bondage to sin. His grace is what saves you — not religion, or church membership.  God loves you!

~ Turn from the world and give your life to God ~

Romans 10:13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

~ Call out to God in the name of Jesus! ~

Romans 10:9,10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

~ Ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord ~

Jesus said in Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

~ Believe in Him ~

~Ask Him to come into your heart by faith, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you.~

Open the Bible to the Gospel of John and read what God says about Jesus, about you, and about being born again. God will help you. He loves you and has given you the Bible as proof of this and so that you may know Him. You need to look for a local church where God’s word is preached. The Bible says that we are to desire God’s word like a newborn baby desires mother’s milk. Aren’t you hungry to know the truth? Water baptism is one of the ways you first show that you have been joined to Jesus. This is an action, and actions will not save you.  However, it is an act of obedience and a symbol of commitment. The symbolism is this: When you submerge beneath the water you show that You have been crucified and buried with Him, and when you rise up out of the water you show that you have been raised to walk with Him in newness of life.

(See Romans chapter 6)

If you have truly turned from self reliance and self trust, and you have turned from trusting the ways of the world and you have believed that Jesus died for your sins, in your rightful place, than the perfect sacrifice pays sin’s death penalty.

Your body has become God’s temple.

God’s Holy Spirit lives in your heart.

Forgiveness is yours in Jesus.

And you belong to Him.

You were sin’s slave.

But now…

You are a child of GOD!

You have been born again.

(See John chapter 3)

John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name

These few verses contain the vital information necessary for eternal salvation through Christ Jesus our Savior and Lord, but this is only the beginning of the voyage. It is our earnest hope and wish that if you have not yet done so, that you will fully give your life to Jesus. To do this, you must know who He is and what He expects of you. We highly recommend that you now read the entire book of Romans in the New Testament, perhaps followed by the book of John. Then read the complete New Testament and then the Old Testament as well. A lot of the New Testament is written as instruction to churches. Seek out a sound Bible-teaching church to help you. The Bible is God’s communication to mankind so that we may know Him and have a relationship with Him. May you pick up the Holy Word of God today, begin reading and never stop!

So has God been at work through the lives of man?

Did a human being give you this message today?

Now consider all the things that came to pass in your life and throughout human history that this message may be delivered to you.

God said in Isaiah 46:9-10

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure
