Here is some information about the event provided by CHEA.

Due to today’s controversial educational climate, more parents are looking for a Christ-centered educational choice. Homeschooling has become the method chosen by many parents. Inquirers, newcomers, and veterans alike will gather at the Disneyland® Hotel for California’s biggest homeschool event May 29-31, 2014. The Convention is hosted by the Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA) of California, the only statewide Christian homeschool advocacy organization, working on behalf of homeschooling year round for 32 years.

Kirk Cameron as Keynote Speaker, a free Mini Conference for New Homeschoolers, a high school graduation ceremony, the Themes in Focus Feature, a huge Exhibit Hall, a Used Curriculum Exchange, and family-friendly Disneyland® will make the Christian Home Educators Association’s (CHEA) upcoming 31st Annual Convention your family’s vacation destination.

Kirk Cameron, actor, homeschool dad, and CHEA Member, will provide a Keynote address Friday evening at the Convention and will host a free screening of his movie, Mercy Rule, for attendees.

Steve and Annette Economides, America’s Money-Smart Family, and Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) will be our other Keynote Speakers, joined by Andrew Pudewa of the Institute for Excellence in Writing as Featured Speaker.

A new feature this year is a free Mini Conference May 29 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. with Keynote Speaker Dr. Brian Ray. He will speak from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on “Just the Facts, Ma’am: Homeschooling Works.” After the Keynote Session, a free Introduction to Home Education will be held from 6:35 to 8 p.m. plus free entry to the Exhibit Hall Preview from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees may attend either or both of the first two sessions (Keynote, Intro Session), but in order to participate in the third session (Exhibit Hall Preview), attendees must attend the Free Introduction Session.

Our new Themes in Focus feature highlights subjects that attendees have indicated are most important. These will include beginning homeschooling, special needs, high school and beyond, preschool, family life and finances, and worldview. This year’s nearly 70 workshops include something for all homeschoolers, from beginners to veterans.

No CHEA Convention is complete without the nearly 200 exhibit booths in the Exhibit Hall including curriculum, college prep, colleges, ministry, teaching resources, and more. Thursday evening is the Grand Opening of the Exhibit Hall (Convention registration required). There will be nearly 50 individual exhibitor workshops where you can get more specific information on curriculum and other products.

This will be our 3rd time to be a participant at this exciting event! It is always a tremendous blessing to meet more Christian homeschooling parents and their children as we get the opportunity to speak about God’s creation, science, and history. If you see our booth, please stop by and introduce yourselves. Hope to see you there!
